
Dr Lincoln Cave
Dr Lincoln Cave is Executive: Organisational Ethics at The Ethics Institute (TEI) based in South Africa. A former public servant with over 30 years of specialist knowledge and experience in national security and international relations, he holds a Doctorate in Public Management from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), where he also completed an Executive Development Programme Certificate. He earned a Master’s Degree in Security Studies and an Advanced Management Development Certificate from the University of Pretoria (UP). His other qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Principles Compliance from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and a Corporate Forensic Investigator Diploma from the Damelin School of Management.
His previous work enabled him to conduct ethics training across various job functions, including external stakeholders such as security managers from national and provincial state entities, as well as members of foreign intelligence services. He also facilitated ethics awareness campaigns under the banner of Global Ethics Day in 2023 and 2024 within the SSA, aimed at promoting ethics in intelligence.
His affiliated roles include serving as a Voluntary External Advisor at the Centre for Geopolitical Security and Strategy (CGSS) at North-West University, Potchefstroom, where he contributes to academic thought leadership with a focus on ethics in intelligence. Complementing this role, Dr Cave has self-published a book on Eersterust and contributed ethics-related articles to peer-reviewed journals, practitioner magazines of professional bodies in South Africa, as well as opinion pieces in the media. His public profile also includes serving as a panellist at the 14th TEI Annual Ethics Officer Learning Forum.
Dr Cave served as a Non-Executive Director (NED) of the board of the Curiosa Academy from June 2023 to January 2025. He is also a member of the Institute of Corporate Forensic Practitioners and the Institute of Directors South Africa.
