Ethics@theMoviesIn-house Ethics Training
Ethics@theMovies is an interactive ethics training experience designed for organisations seeking a meaningful, engaging way to explore ethical decision-making with their staff. Using film as a catalyst for discussion, this session creates a safe, thought-provoking space where complex ethical dilemmas can be unpacked collectively.
The training can be delivered at your organisation’s premises or at a suitable external venue, and is facilitated by The Ethics Institute.
Ethics@theMovies uses popular cinema to explore real-world ethical challenges. Participants watch a selected film and take part in guided discussions that examine ethical principles, moral reasoning, accountability, and the human impact of decisions made under pressure. The format encourages reflection, dialogue, and practical insight that can be applied in the workplace.
During the session, participants engage with themes such as:
- Ethical decision-making in complex and high-pressure situations
- The difference between ethics, legality, justice, and personal morality
- Accountability, responsibility, and consequences of actions
- Power, authority, and ethical leadership
- The emotional and human dimensions of ethical choices
- Organisational ethics and values in practice
Films are carefully selected to surface nuanced ethical dilemmas and stimulate meaningful discussion. (Film selection can be confirmed with the client in advance.)
Ethics@theMovies can be delivered in flexible formats, depending on organisational needs:
- Half-day session
- Full-day session
The format, discussion depth, and group size can be tailored to suit your organisation.
After successfully completing the EOCP and the practical assignment, participants are awarded accreditation by the Stellenbosch Business School (SBS) and TEI as Certified Ethics Officers.
In addition, all newly certified Ethics Officers receive public recognition on TEI’s website and are automatically enrolled as TEI Supporters, with their first year of subscription fees covered.
