Ethics InvestigationsWorkshop
This workshop is designed for individuals responsible for conducting investigations into transgressions of organisational codes of ethics, values, and ethics-related policies, including conflicts of interest, sexual harassment, and victimisation. It is suited to Certified Ethics Officers, ethics investigators, compliance practitioners, HR professionals, internal auditors, and hotline case managers.
The workshop is intended for practitioners involved in ethics-related investigations and is not designed for individuals with extensive forensic or investigative experience.
The Ethics Investigations workshop focuses on the methodology of conducting workplace ethics investigations in a fair and structured manner, aligned with good governance practices. It explores the role of ethics investigations within organisations and builds practical capability in planning investigations, conducting interviews, evaluating evidence, and compiling clear, defensible reports.
During the workshop, the following themes are introduced and explored:
- The distinction between ethics investigations and forensic investigations
- The role of ethics investigations in governance and organisational culture
- The qualities and competencies required of an effective investigator
- Types of investigations and their purpose within organisations
- Planning and structuring an investigation
- Evidence collection and evaluation
- Interview preparation and questioning techniques
- Conducting effective interviews
- Analysing findings and applying professional judgement
- Report writing and communication of findings
- Using investigation outcomes to inform corrective action and organisational learning
The duration of the workshop is a full day.
After successfully completing the EOCP and the practical assignment, participants are awarded accreditation by the Stellenbosch Business School (SBS) and TEI as Certified Ethics Officers.
In addition, all newly certified Ethics Officers receive public recognition on TEI’s website and are automatically enrolled as TEI Supporters, with their first year of subscription fees covered.
