EO 422 – Xolile Dike
Xolile Dike
Eastern Cape Department of Health
Director
Why did you attend the programme?
I attended the Ethics Certification Programme after I saw the draft DPSA Ethics Integrity Framework. My Department identified me as person to lead the implementation of Ethics Programme in the department and I took the challenge with both hands as I was heading the Risk Management Unit. During the implementation of the programme I saw the need to develop and equip myself on how to professionally implement the programme and fortunately I knew that EthicsSA offers the course as I had attended 2 Ethics Conferences. My supervisor then at department of Roads and Public works didn’t hesitate to approve my enrollment on the Programme.
How did it benefit you personally?
Personally I have benefited a lot from the Programme. My department did well on the Assessment of Ethics programme in the department by DPSA through the MPAT assessment. I became more confident of what need to be done as I have learnt a lot during the attendance of the Programme especial on the formal way of implementing the Ethics Programme in the Department. I was also able to capacitate employees that work in the Internal Audit and Risk management unit through the permission from my supervisor who is also a CAE. I have been confident in work shopping Top Management and the other employees in the Department, thank you to the training I received from EthicsSA. I have been confidently making a lot of input on many governance structures in and outside the Department I am working for.
How is it benefiting your company?
My department did well on the Assessment of Ethics programme in the department by DPSA through the MPAT assessment. When my department was assessed by the Office of the Premier on Ethics Management my Department became no 1 in the Province. The Department now understand the importance of managing Ethics and also understand the difference between Ethics and issues of Fraud and corruption and how they link.
