EO 393 – Matome Malatsi

Matome Emmanuel Malatsi
Department of Home Affairs
Chief Director: Investigations  (Acting DDG: Counter Corruption & Security Services)

Why did you attend the programme?
It was one of my milestones to gain practical expertise on how to develop and implement the Ethics Management Programme for an institution. My department sent me because it embarked on an overall transformation to improve efficiency and quality of the service provided to its client. The development and implementation of the Ethics Management Programme for the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is an Annual Performance Plan target for 2014/ 15 Financial Year and my attendance at the course would assist me with the proficiency to deliver on that target. The course has enabled me to have fun and enjoy that exercise whilst making a meaningful contribution to enhance how home affairs do business.

How did it benefit you personally?
I have acquired practical skills to implement the theory I have learned regarding the ethics of governance and the governance of ethics. I make every interaction with people count. I am able to analyse situations using the various ethical theories.

How is it benefiting your company?
I have steered the development of the Ethics Management Programme for the DHA and the implementation is currently under way. It is such a wonderful experience. The DHA will have ethical organizational culture over a period of time.
