EO 274 – Simon Rankini Makena

University of South Africa

Why did you attend the programme?
I attended because I wanted to play a role in ensuring that we change the culture of the organisation. I could stand or sit back watching many things going wrong in the organisation and not being sure as to what measures or approach to put into place to correct the situation. Ethical reasoning and ethical decision making is what helps me assist the organisation with culture change.

How did the programme benefit you personally?
I am able to think about people around me as well as the organisation I am working for before deciding on doing something. I have also learnt that ethics is about being selfless and taking decisions which one will never regret even tomorrow, And most importantly doing the right thing which will not require one to justify why he/she did it and also ethical reasoning.

How is it benefitting your company?
Attendees of the training along with the office of the Vice-Principal Assurance and Advisory services have started embarking on training the employees in the institution about ethics. We want to change the organisational culture and ensure that the organisation becomes one of the respected institutions globally in ethics.

Interested individuals may contact me for more information on my experience on the programme.
