EO 211 – Linda Cornwell
UNISA
Director: School of Social Sciences
Why did you attend the programme?
UNISA is making a concerted effort to demonstrate and live its commitment to high ethical standards, to fairness and social justice. It is important for the university to have a number of ethics champions at all levels to raise awareness of and show commitment to ethical behaviour.
How is the programme benefitting you personally?
I have come to appreciate the complexities and holistic nature of ethics. It is not only about taking decisions, but also managing processes. Having to apply theory to practice was challenging, but helped me to understand UNISA better.
How is it benefitting your company?
I believe that i can make a constructive difference – ethics is an integral part of being an academic. By applying what I have learnt, and by encouraging colleagues to also enroll for the course, UNISA will move closer to achieving its goals at all levels and in all spheres.
